UAE gratuity calculator for 2026

The keyword data shows that many people still search for UAE gratuity calculators labelled 2025, 2024, 2023 or even earlier. A year label does not make a calculator accurate. The important question is whether it uses the current law, the correct basic salary and the right employment framework.

This calculator is marked 2026 because the content was reviewed in 2026. It does not create a different annual formula. The standard federal calculation remains 21 days per year for the first five years and 30 days per year after five, with proportional service after one year and unpaid absence excluded.

Is this the official MOHRE gratuity calculator?

No. This is an independent calculator. “MOL gratuity calculator UAE” and “Ministry of Labour gratuity calculator” are older search terms; the current ministry is MOHRE. Use our MOHRE gratuity rules and links page to compare the estimate with official guidance and open the correct government services.

Basic salary versus gross salary

The core formula uses the last basic wage. Do not add housing, transport, telephone, education, travel or similar allowances to the daily gratuity rate. Entering the full package can materially overstate the result. The optional total-wage field is used only for the two-year wage cap.

Does resignation or termination change gratuity?

The former one-third and two-thirds resignation reductions are not part of the current standard federal formula. Termination also does not create a separate rate. However, notice pay, leave salary, unlawful-termination compensation, lawful deductions and special jurisdictions can affect the complete final settlement.

Read gratuity after resignation or gratuity after termination for the relevant checklist.

Who should not use the standard result as final?

  • DIFC employees using DEWS or another qualifying scheme
  • ADGM employees covered by ADGM Employment Regulations
  • Domestic workers covered by separate legislation
  • UAE nationals under pension and social-security rules
  • Workers paid by piece rate
  • Employees enrolled in the federal alternative end-of-service savings scheme
  • Anyone with a disputed deduction or court order

What to keep with your calculation

Save the result with the contract, salary certificate, latest payslip, start-date evidence, last-working-day notice, leave record and employer’s itemised final settlement. The number is most useful when every input can be supported by a document.

Frequently asked questions

UAE gratuity questions

How is gratuity calculated in the UAE?
For a qualifying full-time foreign private-sector employee, divide the last monthly basic salary by 30. Apply 21 days for each of the first five years and 30 days for each later year. Partial years are proportional after one completed year.
Is UAE gratuity based on basic salary or total salary?
The standard benefit calculation uses the last basic wage. Allowances are not added to the daily gratuity rate.
How much gratuity is paid for two years?
Two full qualifying years equal 42 days of basic wage.
Does resignation reduce gratuity in 2026?
The old one-third and two-thirds resignation reductions are not part of the current standard federal formula.
Does termination cancel gratuity?
Termination does not create a separate 21-day or 30-day formula. Lawful deductions, notice and special jurisdictions may affect the complete settlement.
Does unpaid leave count as service?
No. Unpaid days of absence are excluded from the service period used for gratuity.
Does this calculator cover JAFZA or DMCC?
It can provide a federal-law estimate for many free-zone employees, but the relevant authority and contract must be checked. It does not cover DIFC or ADGM.
Is this the official MOHRE calculator?
No. This is an independent calculator that links to official MOHRE and UAE government sources.
When should final dues be paid?
The law states that wages and other employment entitlements should be paid within 14 days from the contract end date.
